Re: Can't connect to the internet

Looking at /usr/src/kernel/.config it appears that Marvell Yukon2 support is configured as a module in the SL 2.6.29 kernel: CONFIG_SKY2=m I wonder if you need to rebuild the kernel and select it as an in-kernel driver? See: http://www.gentoo-wiki.info/Sky2 EDIT: And/or maybe you need to install th...

Re: Can't connect to the internet

Not entirely sure about this, but I think I've heard something about NOT running NM when using wicd... I already removed the network Manager before trying to install wicd. Besides that, that would only apply if I was able to install wicd... but I can't because of its hundreds of never-ending depend...

Re: Can't connect to the internet

I have copied the package to /var/lib/entropy/packages/amd64/4, but equo still doesn't find it Open Sulfur, then click on Sulfur - Install from binary package and point to the program location In your case /var/lib/entropy/packages/amd64/4/net-misc:wicd-1.6.1~0.tbz2 I tried that, and it gave me a c...

Re: How to install manually downloaded packages?

It doesn't. When you do equo install wicd You're downloading wicd from the repository and then installing it. You shouldn't have a need to manually download packages, and as such, you can delete the ones you've already downloaded. If you had read what I wrote (or at least the topic title), then you...

Re: How to install manually downloaded packages?

I thought equo (or Sulfur) is only for installing packages from the online repositories?
How does equo know where I have the manually downloaded packages?

How to install manually downloaded packages?

I've downloaded the wicd x64 package with Windows to replace the Nework Manager following these instructions: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3104329.0 The Network manager seems to be faulty - dsl tab is deactivated, thus I can't create any dsl connections :x (I obviously can't use t...

Re: Can't connect to the internet

I've now helped mayself and tried ten network Manager once more. Creating a new wired connection, entering the mac and a manual static IP. Just before though, it didn't do anything. I noticed however that in the Network Manager tooltip there was another connection listed named "Auto eth0", which was...

Re: Can't connect to the internet

Ok, I'll do that. I've also found out that sky2 is installed (even though it's not listed in Sulfur). The command cat /var/log/messages|grep eth[0,1]\: from the Sabayon network guide results in the following: [ 16.351302] sky2 eth0: addr 00:01:29:a6:8e:04 NetworkManager: <info> eth0: driver is 'sky2...
