eduardhc - the from source compile does give significant performance boost.

As to doing it after a from DVD install ... erm ... i'd unmerge all the stuff you don't need first, then recompile, just to save on bandwidth and time ...

bit torrent is working surprisingly well for me, when i was on the 512kb down plan it wasn't to great, but on 1.5Mb it's doing ok. well on that subject, i've noticed that sometimes it starts of it's own accord when logging in (ie into a user session) and sometimes it does not ... can't seem to make out rhym or reason on that one.

a program called tmpwatch exists to ensure things in /tmp (and underlying and anywhere else if you're keen) get nuked after X number of ... hours from memory. On RedHat ES system's it's configured to run through cron ...

emerge --sync && emerge portage && layman -d sabayon && layman -a sabayon I always to a emerge --sync and emertge portage first, then delete and readd the sabayon overlay. This seems to work well for me. Ok fine I get all that, but cant you just do "emerge --sync" and be done too? Nah ... for some ...

I think 0.1.9999.1 is just another name for 2.0r2, 0.1.9999.1 as of your posting (and probably mine) the newest build number that emerge shows, however the actual logo when you boot it up may show 2.0r2

aight i haven't nuked the .beryl in my home so that might be why the one that came down for me is 0.1.9999.1 and only the manager, it says it can't grab settings (when i try to install it explicitly) because core of that version is missing. just in case, i'm running sabayon 3.25 and NOT 3.26 ... i h...
