Re: wireless wont connect after 4.4 kde upgrade [Solved]

Hi When you have logged in open up a konsole window and type SU , entering your root password. If you are using WICD then try typing the following into the konsole window: 1) /etc/init.d/wicd status (you want the output to this command to say STARTED ) 2) if it is not running then type /etc/init.d/w...

Re: wireless wont connect after 4.4 kde upgrade [Solved]

Hi For those of you currently stuck with wicd this is how you get it to work. 1) Open up a root konsole (E.g type su and enter root password) 2) Next type /etc/init.d/wicd start Now your wicd should work. You might have to kill the wicd icon (bottom-right of screen for most of you) and restart wicd ...

Re: How to re-install Grub?

Hi. I think you might of read my grub-install command wrong. It was "grub-install --root-directory=/mnt/floppy /dev/sda". Note: there is a space in between /mnt/floppy and /dev/sda. The /mnt/floppy part of the argument is where the Sabayonlinux's /boot folder is located and the /dev/sda part is wher...

Speeding up Sulfur package downloads

Hi I keep on reading posts where people seem to be having problems with Sulfur . Either packages not found on mirrors, slow download speeds & magneto not working (updating) properly. First off open up a konsole window. (You can do this by clicking on the KDE menu and typing in konsole in the search ...

Re: How to re-install Grub?

Hi. It's quite easy. Just boot up off of the Sabayonlinux dvd and login. Open up a konsole and type "su" followed by the password "root". Next mount the partition that your Sabayonlinux boot folder is on. E.g. "mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/floppy" and then enter the command "grub-install --root-directory=/m...

Re: Which Backup/Image Solution?

Hi. I don't think it's ext4 "partimage" has a problem with. I think its the logical vol groups (LVM) you are using. I don't use LVMs on my disc but i know Sabayonlinux uses them, by default, in the install process. Maybe check google or the systemrescuecd website for "using LVM with partimage". Hope...

Re: updating desktop icon

Hi. I'm suprised it doesn't have an option for a single shot coz both the GUI front ends have a button that takes a single shot of the desktop. When you've finished you'll have to let us know (in detail) how you've done it. I would be interested in doing the same thing. Good luck. Cheers dave.

Re: updating desktop icon

Hi. Not sure if this will help but there's a program called recordmydesktop. Qt-recordmydesktop and gtk-recordmydesktop are graphical frontends to recordmydesktop (which is the command line version). The program can record the whole desktop or just part of it. It also takes snapshots of the whole sc...
