Re: strange thing after using shasum/md5sum

Hello, sorry for the long dealay. I had to wait until weekend for additional testing. Well, certainly I have created a swap-partition during sabayon installation (2 GiB linux-swap as /dev/sda7). Partitioning of Harddisk is: /dev/sda1 ntfs 46,29 GiB (original bootpartition of this notebook, with an w...

Re: strange thing after using shasum/md5sum

Thanks for your reply.

This is an MD95500 Arima/Medion Notebook with a Nvidia 6600 Go PCI Express Card, 128MB seperate Graphics-RAM (not shared) and 512MB System DDR-II-RAM, on an Intel Pentium M 740 with 1,73 GHz. Should be enough for calculating checksums by far... or not?

strange thing after using shasum/md5sum

hello people, I do need some advice again. I have here a 3.4f with nvidia drivers installed, working really great. But I just had to learn: Everytime when creating checksums for large files (600...700MB) using shasum or md5sum within a console window (with user priveleges) all videoplayers installed...

Re: Is there (still) a HDD shutdown issue?

Well, I'm on 3.4f meanwhile, and I have still this very issue. Is there a known workaround in sabayon for the plop-off of the harddisk on shutdown? Other distros have the same issue, and it was discussed there ever since. E.G. here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.17/+bug/67810...

Re: Pit-falls installing GIMP 2.4.0?

Hello, well, it worked even worse for me. First I typed emerge -sync layman -S to get the actual version of gimp presented in portage. After I've entered "emerge gimp" yesterday, it started installing a new version of dbus automatically... After this it stopped giving me a filesize mismatch ...

Is there (still) a HDD shutdown issue?

Hello, has this hdd shutdown issue got fixed with Sabayon 3.4? In 3.2, 3.3 I have this strange "pop" sound on poweroff shutdown my laptop (wich is not on suspend, and also not when shutting down from any MS-OS), and right now I've found out, what this strange sound (which is also present when using ...

My tip: find out what means "cd":

...open a console window, type in

man cd

and read what comes up. If you finished reading type in

q

and you'll be back in bash.

And after this cd into the dir you like.

Tell us a little more, please. - which beryl version do you have installed? (type beryl -v and emerald --version and beryl-manager --version and in a console window) Maybe there is an easier way to retrieve all the information about beryl, but I don't know it, sorry. - which graphics card do you use...

hello andu

Did you actually verify that beryl runs twice, eg. in ksysguard (page: processes)?

Anyway, why don't you simply remove the redundant file (or symlink) from the ~/.kde/Autostart folder? You can look for it e.g. in konqueror.

Just updated beryl to 0.2.1, which gives me up to 15 windows without getting black window contents. This is much better than before, and I can live with these limits. At least, now I have the beryl diamond in the upper bar and the new settings manager. Suspend to ram and wake up still works fine. In...
