Re: Hard Drives not being recognized

is it a must to boot from usb or cd? No it is not, but it is better as you have far less problems (you have already seen the 'not finding your hard drives') I prefer to boot the live image from usb It is good that you have created a backup of everything, by everything do you mean the whole drive as...

Re: Hard Drives not being recognized

its my first try with using linux Lucky they couldn't as you could have wiped your hard drive You will need to do a few things before installing 1. Run the image as a live dvd first (that way you can see if it will work with your computer) (set up computer so that it will boot from the dvd or usb, ...

Re: Backup/restore

There are quite a few different partition backup programs available For now I am using fsarchiver, have a look to see if this is the type of backup/restore program you have in mind http://www.fsarchiver.org/ Most of the rescue disks that are available have fsarchiver as well as other backup programs...

Re: Can't boot into newly installed Sabayon 10 KDE

I am really confused what happened here More than likely errors on your hard drive, most likley was repaired while distro hoping (I couldn't tell you which one) but something I would do is recheck your hard drive for damaged blocks (Win marks disk errors as damaged blocks which 9 out 10 times can b...

Re: Can't boot into newly installed Sabayon 10 KDE

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't one of the tasks for the boot agent used for booting from the network ROM (This allows a computer without any disks or persistent storage to run an operating system by downloading the necessary software over the network) Try disabling the boot agent in your BIOS (y...

Re: Sabayon kernel 3.6-r3 - nvidia error

Check to see if you have the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Had similar thing after clean install of a daily iso built BEFORE: 2012-11-04
Problem was a missing file /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Didn't look into the problem (new image next day) as it was easier for me to install the 2012-11-04 image

Re: I can't login - Ya I know, it sounds stupid

Assumption is that you are trying to login from the graphical login manager First thing I would do is check to make sure the scroll lock button is off (not seen this happen since the beta 4 and 5) Next I would try the user name and password while the caps lock button is active If still no login then...
