its not possible to change the default for grub unless it prompts you for root privs, which is a ridiculous waste of time

now if one were to build a user handle into grub that would accept something from gnome or kde, then yes, it would be possible

DEPEND="" just a normal dependency for it to function
PDEPEND="" Something necssary for it to actually install and link against
RDEPEND="" runtime dependency, necessary to compile correctly, kinda rare, but amarok has ruby as an rdepend as an example

not sure, but I think there might be something out there for it....but in all reality, yeah, that wouldn't be too hard to adapt, just certain drivers are built into the kernel, which is a bit different

program called skim comes preinstalled with SL dvd, it helps with the input of asian languages ;)
