Re: qt-5.14.1-r1 and dev-qt/qtwebkit-5.212.0_pre20190629 issue

I will recompile it, just ran into it myself on build chroot: CMake Error at /usr/lib64/cmake/Qt5/Qt5Config.cmake:28 (find_package): Found package configuration file: /usr/lib64/cmake/Qt5WebKit/Qt5WebKitConfig.cmake but it set Qt5WebKit_FOUND to FALSE so package "Qt5WebKit" is considered to be NOT F...

I can't really understand what you are saying, but it runs fine on my system here.

Re: Well done, but..

Things are masked for a reason. I prefer to maintain a certain quality and do not want to grab random code that isn't even released by the upstream project. I hope you understand that. Maybe you can do some research and find out why it is in the current state in Gentoo?

Re: Well done, but..

"automatic build system"
You are talking to it now.

We can always add software that is NOT in Portage. Community repos are actually for that. In some special occasions we add things that we need for the project and could be up-streamed to Gentoo Portage. That stuff is in the "for-gentoo" overlay.

Re: Well done, but..

"But should keep the apps as long as they are in Gentoo, not earlier." It is masked in Gentoo. I had to recompile it because of the HUGE migration we did, but I can't. Even if I would unmask it the whole deptree is already gone, or parts of it. It is not that simple. I just judge from a technical po...

Re: Well done, but..

You shouldn't ask those questions to me. If we could we would support any program as long as possible (obviously). But as you can see in the Gentoo bug, upstream abandoned the project. We can't go write patches for all these programs that is not our duty. As for the alternative, it is not in Portage...

Re: Man vs. Machine: Are Any Jobs Safe from Innovation?

Machines will replace dull jobs so we have more human power on education and taking care of people that need help. It is a process. You shouldn't see this as a negative process, please understand this takes some time. (o:
