Re: Garish colors imposed arbitrarily

I would like to take this opportunity to reinforce my idea: could we have two sets of artwork? One bright, one dark for those of us who would like dark, "uninteresting" screens. (Of course, I don't have anything against multiple, user contributed themes, but the mechanism still needs to be implement...

Re: Jolly good artwork, 13.08

I've been meaning to post this suggestion ever since this new artwork came around Sabayon, but I guess I never found the time. I'm not saying the new artwork isn't nice (I use fedora at work, and that looks worse, even though it seems to use a very similar color palette). I'm just trying to say that...

Re: Eclipse removed from repository

I was aware the eclipse version was old, but it didn't bother me that much (currently, I use it only for small C++ console applications, so as long as the plugins worked, it was enough for me). When I needed a newer version at work, I just installed it from their website, but as a quick install meth...

Eclipse removed from repository [Solved]

I had eclipse-sdk installed from entropy, but in yesterdays update, equo told me it was removed from repository and I should uninstall it. Any comments why it was removed? I used it as a C++ IDE (with CDT), and I would like to stick with it. I know it can still be installed from source, but having i...

Sandy bridge graphics / switcheroo

First, the problem I have a Dell laptop, with an Intel 2430M processor and a ATI 6490HD graphics card. Until recently, I used a 3.5 sabayon kernel, with xorg-X11 as option for "eselect opengl", and everything seemed to work fine (including kde effects). The "ati" option didn't seem to work as well (...

Re: Oh, come on now!

This reminds me of a bug in google a while back... someone posted on a forum something like this: "The" is a common English word and has been excluded from your search. "Who" is a common English word and has been excluded from your search. Obviously, the guy was trying to get some info on the rock b...

Re: Unzip a tar.gz

just try:

Code: Select all

tar xvzf yourfile.tar.gz
This will extract all the files in your current folder (so move the file to a separate folder if you don't want to make a mess).

Re: geogebra

I didn't know anything about geogebra until now, but you can use kmplot (it seems to have pretty much the same functionality) - kmplot is available in entropy

Re: Trouble with Sabayon Install

I personally always use the custom partitioning method. You can select what partition to use (or which free space to format as a partition). You just need to set the mount point of that partition as / (format as ext4). Also, since you have 60 gigs of free space, I would recommend creating at least t...

Re: Faster mirrors?

As root

Code: Select all

equo repo mirrorsort sabayonlinux.org
This will sort the mirrors by speed (fastest for you - first)
