Re: Connection mysteriously disappearing

Not strange at all! but you'll need to be a tad more specific - wireless or wired? Dual-booting with windows? The output of lsusb, lspci, and ifconfig (iwconfig as well if you're wireless) will help us determine what your computer means when it tells you the internet is gone. I've seen a few reason...

Connection mysteriously disappearing

I have a pretty strange problem... My Internet connection sometimes mysteriously disappears. I work/play, I turn off the computer, and the next time I boot it - no connection. This has happened twice (once before, and now). I have connection now, using the Sabayon DVD, but not when I'm booting off o...

Re: Updating configuration files

New question: I ran "sudo dispatch-conf", and when it updated the second file that needed updating, I got this: >> (2 of 2) -- /etc/cups/mime.convs >> q quit, h help, n next, e edit-new, z zap-new, u use-new # here I pressed "u" m merge, t toggle-merge, l look-merge: dispatch-conf: Error rena...

Re: Updating configuration files

Neither "etc-update" nor "dispatch-conf" work. They are installed (or they should be - I have emerged gentoolkit, which I need according to the Gentoo website, and I have the manpages), yet, when I try to run them, I get "command not found". What have I missed? Well, I have to get some sleep now (it...

Updating configuration files

Hi. Newbie question: How do I update configuration files? Emerge tells me that I should do that, and also tells me to check the man page for Emerge, but that didn't teach me anything. Neither did Google, Gentoo Wiki, Gentoo Forums or Sabayon forums. Thanks in advance, I edit: fixed a typo - I typed ...

Thank you! :D

OK, I know this is a pointless post, but - oh, well...

I just successfully booted into my brand new Sabayon system! And I like it much more than Ubuntu, which I used to use before. :D

Thanks for making this, people!
