install non-Gentoo packages? [Solved]

I'm new at SL, coming from Debian (no expert). How do I install something that's not in the packages, eg mocp (music on console)? I see so much documentation, that it's hard to see where to start, so please don't tell me to RTFM, because I will, bit by bit :-) I'd just like to start off exploring my...

snelkoppeling naar bureaublad? [Solved]

Re: ctrl alt backspace doesn't work on frozen window

...You could start using Nautilus as your default file manager. You could also recompile your kernel ... Recompiling's not an option for me, since I'm too new to Linux in general. Using Nautilus doesn't imply having to use Gnome then? (can tell I'm new, right ;-)) I use Xfce because it's light and ...

ctrl alt backspace doesn't work on frozen window

It happened several times that the edit: Thunar file manager window froze (when cut-pasting large folders) and that CTRL ALT Backspace didn't help to get out of that state; only way out I saw was cold start, which isn't too healthy in Linux. Is there a better way to get out of frozen state? (I'm usi...

I saved it in a folder together with the HowTo in a txt-file.

Re: panel not responding (Solved)

hmm, it is strange, on the liveDVD I tested it and panel just comes up fine... Thanks Dre, but overnight it's sorted (miraculously). I don't know what exactly I did, but I can reboot and the panel is ok... beats me  I will keep your file in mind, for when it goes wrong again, thanks! (adding...
