Re: equo install nvidida-drivers killed gdm

If i may interject, it sounds as though the crash while installing the nvidia drivers may have left something around. That error message is usually from a mismatched version from what I've seen. I would suggest cleaning the nvidia files out and starting anew or at the very least, check which module ...

Re: Raid

I don't have any info regarding raid, but in respect to Vista multiboot in general, there's a guy who put a bit of effort into detailing how Vista handles booting and touching the boot sectors. http://www.multibooters.co.uk

Re: No Direct3D in Wine

No, blizzard has never put one out. Using an outside directx is the opposite of wine's direction. Wine uses a custom built layer to handle directx calls and translate them to other device layer handlers. Wine-doors has directx either out of ignorance or more likely it is simply the runtimes that win...

Cedega hardlocks system

I've installed Cedega via the repo and it completely hardlocks my box. Running 3.5 x86_64. Using an different tar of the same version (6.0.2) does the same thing. Tried 6.0 also. Cedega from the tarball works fine on (K)ubuntu 64-bit. Hardlock is near immediate. I have no idea where to start figurin...

No Direct3D in Wine

I installed Diablo II and LoD via wine. Video test app (on D2 disc/install) reports only DirectDraw as an option. Direct rendering is working, using latest nvidia drivers in sabayon repo. I'm not sure where to begin with this. I guess when my patience resumes I can try installing it against the Live...

sabayonlinux-artwork-3.51_alpha4: Widescreen BG & Panel Text

Just updated and for anyone that may come in with the questions: Why's the desktop black? Why can't I see the title on a minimized window? The widescreen default image is now sabayonlinux-widescreen.png Very, very good job on the image whoever the author is (haven't looked yet). Helps greatly on the...

Re: Apple awarded patent on the Dock

The sentence catches your eye because THAT'S what the patent is for. They would lose on prior art for a dock. So, they narrow the scope heavily to get a patent, then push media with a different angle to scare off others.

Re: ALC888 Sound Card noisy in Linux but not Windows

There has been some additions in the 1.0.18 series (not in Sabayon yet) for model variations for the ALC888. You might want to try out a new version, or at least check out docs for it to see if there's a new model config for your specific device layout.

Looking for successful input hook for ventrilo

Any gamers around here have ventrilo with a successful input key hook such as ventriloctrl or other working? I've tried using ventriloctrl to no avail: ref http://www.sabayonlinux.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=14885 Open to suggestions alternatives. I read about using an option to make the game you...

Re: Takes hours to compile gparted 100% CPU

i see some posts about this phenom! may see that it is due to memory problems.... It occurs is Gentoo, mainly! sometimes you may try close the compilation process, using Crtl+C during compilation. the problem occurs when a large , or slow to compile package, as gcc, OpenOffice or GParted etc... Rem...
