Re: Gnome 3.0 - April 6th

I've been trying Gnome 3 for several hours on Arch Linux. I don't recommend to use it after necessary polishing: No 3d acceleration with latest nvidia drivers, bugs with immature programs and menu needs to be customizable (over-simplified). But I have to admit, the developers have done tremendous wo...

Re: Language Bar

Hi gzepplin, First of all, You must install Japanese locales and fonts in order to have your keyboard correctly configured in Japanese. In Entropy Store, we are talking about a minimum of 128 softwares to install. Then, look at this place "http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/SCIM" to learn how to setting...

Re: Why do you use Sabayon?

Since 2005, I've tried many distributions: Gentoo, Ubuntu, Parsix, Debian, Slackware, Linux Mint (based on Ubuntu then on Debian), Crunchbang based on Debian, Mepis, Pardus, Arch and Sabayon since 3.5. Sabayon never stops to get better and It's easy to install and maintain in comparison of Gentoo. A...

Re: Sabayon Linux 5.0 GNOME and KDE: Stable release

don't mix sistem wide and important gentoo commands, like a revdep-rebuild, with entropy technology commands, like an equo upgrade! this is the source for so many housed sistem from past gentoo, and young sabayon linux, users! is simply too dangerous! if you are too impacient, after years of so many...

Re: Sabayon Linux 5.0 GNOME and KDE: Stable release

Before using Sabayon, I used Gentoo for 5 years. I know what I'm doing for a successful upgrade: Like checking the relevancy of possible upgrades before doing so, using the correct command with equo, if some discrepancies affect my system, i'll use revdep-rebuild and so on...

Re: Sabayon Linux 5.0 GNOME and KDE: Stable release

You can migrate to branch 5 without reinstalling or downloading the DVD. * Get latest entropy version first * equo hop 5 * equo update * equo upgrade Remember that KDE 3.x is NOT supported anymore. If you have KDE3.x and other KDE3.x depending programs install I recommend to either do a clean Sabay...
