Re: ...update ati driver or not?

Yea, will try when i figure out where to get kernel and possibly patches (if necessary). Erm, i guess i would be trying to do this without saving important files as i have no idea whatsoever which files that would be; could use some help there... Otherwise as i see it now i would 1 get kernel and in...

Re: ...update ati driver or not?

WarraWarra, as i use sulfur for packagemanagement i assume i could that by looking them up in the masked packages section. Would i have to reinstall the 9.6 catalyst or would a "revdep rebuild" suffice? I kindly ask if my assumption is correct. This machine has but to win so an experiment would be i...

Re: ...update ati driver or not?

Yes it is very nice to see it working, although a bit buggy still. I really hope the ati-drivers will get better, and i have far more confidence in the open drivers improving than in the catalyst-drivers. It really is funny to see my new phenom 955 quadcore with hd8470 crash when opening a new tab i...

Re: ...update ati driver or not?

Hi, i wish i could find a way to express my joy over installing the fresh sabayon 4.2 kde 64 bit dvd.
Booted it and without having to bother with xdriver=radeonHD, i got a working desktop environment with fglrx installed.

This is very nice work.
Kernel now is 2.6.29

Re: ...update ati driver or not?

As far as i know now; you should be able to use gflrx (no need to modprobe) with an older kernel. I dont know about the .28 though. Anyway, are you sure you are booting the .28 kernel as you mentioned you copied the entry of the .29. So if you did select the same genkernel and initramfs but renamed ...
