Re: Distro Suggestion: Not building audio drivers into the kerne

Thats an awesome point Eden about Nvidia drivers =) I guess that makes sense why they aren't there. Here were my points of consideration anyhow: - audio is of supreme importance to users - knowledge of how to emerge alsa is easer than knowledge of how to recompile a kernel - currently alsa is hard l...

Re: Procedure to build Sabayon from stage 1 or 3 -- security rel

From my understanding "gentoo user", this is true. In theory you should be able to start from gentoo minimal stage one, and get up to sabayon quality after adding overlays. If you are security minded, you should do this. I don't think you can trust ixnay or anyone else on how they make sabayon (whic...

Distro Suggestion: Not building audio drivers into the kerne

I've had this problem ever since i've used sabayon. Basically, I went through a string of computers that had sound cards that weren't always up to date in support by linux. ALSA drivers did not work, and I was left waiting for months till something reached alsa-9999. Anyhow, I always found it a real...

Re: Procedure to build Sabayon from stage 1 or 3 -- security rel

It is portage based though (for now), so quit being so loud and try to answer the mans question. A more specific question that might help your aim "gentoo user" is, how do I build up "sabayon core". As for the exact process, you'll need to talk with one of the distro devs ;) Whether they'll give you...

Re: Macbook Pro(blems) with 3.4e

I had this problem with Macbook Pro. There was a serious issue with the Nvidia driver that got released with Sabayon 3.4 and Macbooks Pro 8600 GT graphics card. This issue also affected the nv driver. Bot nv and Nvidia are now entirely up to date on portage now, but the boot disk still uses the olde...

Idea: Apple Flavored Sabayon

I would love a streamlined version of Sabayon that targets Apple computers specifically. I like Sabayon and how easy it makes it for a person to get up and running with a full arsenal of Linux applications. What I don't like is having to sully myself with streamlining Sabayon kernels ( which are alr...
