Re: Howto ATI fix

I'm using sabayon 4.2 x86. I haven't managed to update my system yet but there's only 5 updates available and from previous experience, 3 are just things like restricted-extras and stuff. When I can, I'll try installing them but I doubt they'll make a difference Should I create a new thread for this...

Re: Howto ATI fix

What does this actually fix?

I've got a problem with an ATI card but I'm not sure whether to do this or just post a new thread about it.

PC freezes with lots of:
*ERROR* radeon_cp_reset called without lock held crash
line continues but not around pc atm with the error
It has a X1600 Pro

Over the size of the iso to be safe(add a few mb like 50) Just make sure everything can be copied over and it'll work I think

Re: Help-How to install Sabayon on usb HDD?

Copy it over as a live dvd (extract from iso), install bootloader (you have to use ext2/3 as fat makes it crash I think) and boot with the command Xistance or something like that. This allows it to save data

Re: Installing from a hard disk

Okay, this second answer follows the theory that I had. Here is my proposal in slightly more detail. The machine has two ide hard drives. I mean to install the full dvd on the hda drive. I could install a minimal linux on the hdb drive, and then get the dvd image, or its expanded files, onto that d...

as chickpea said, equo --world is available too
Yeah, but using equo is really only for those who have gentoo/Sabayon already. This can also be used by other dists.

e.g. Installing Sabayon from a Ubuntu LiveCD

Re: Everytime I start up have to activate wireless

SEARCH THE FORUM/WIKI http://wiki.sabayonlinux.org/index.php?title=HOWTO:_Using_BCM43xx_cards_using_bcm43xx_or_ndiswrapper_with_Sabayon need to do a sudo echo "ndiswrapper" > /etc/modules.autoload/kernel-2.6 Shouldn't that be: sudo echo "ndiswrapper" >> /etc/modules.autoload/kernel-2.6 otherwise it...

Re: Upgrade Sabayon without booting off liveDVD

Yes, do you mean mount it with:

Code: Select all

sudo mount -t iso9660 -o loop /path/to/Sabayon.iso
Then what? Is there an install I can run or do I have to copy off the files?
Also, Do I mount the inner fs file as well?

Thanks

Upgrade Sabayon without booting off liveDVD

My original question is marked below. Basic How-to copy to harddrive and install it 1- Make a new Primary partition that is over the size of the iso. Format it as ext2 Notes: Logical partitions do not work. This is because of grub sending the wrong data to the second boot loader 2- Mount the partiti...
