Re: Going to be installing Windows 7, prepare Grub2?

Okay, now I'm not sure which grub I'm actually using. Running a quick "eix grub" tells me that I have 2 versions installed

*0.97-r22
*1.97.2-r2

How do I know which one is being used? And therefore which guide to follow?

If it's any help, here is my grub.conf : http://www.sabayon.org/pastie/3490

Going to be installing Windows 7, prepare Grub2?

Hi all, I'm going to be installing Windows 7 onto my machine. Let me give you what I have already. Currently, I have Windows XP installed on one partition (NTFS), Sabayon 5.1 (+updates, so ~5.2) (EXT3) on a other partition, plus a swap partition. My current grub configuration works 100%. However, I ...

pkg-config not searching /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig?

Is there a reason for this? All the information I could find was years old, it was reportedly fixed by the Gnome people back in 2003. Any reason I'm having to use PKG_CONFIG_PATH?

Re: Just got strigi installed by updates, how to start using?

Is there any way to make it work with Dolphin? As that is the most useful connotation that I can have for it besides the krunner integration. And it seems that my krunner is locking up more and more these days too. A quick Google search says that it may even be because of the strigi integration.

Re: Cannot login to KDE

I had this same issue. It is caused by some of the packages that have been pulled in from an equo update.

Simply do an equo upgrade or install kde 4.4 and you should be fine.

It doesn't look like you've broken it just yet. What repositories or mirrors are you currently using?

Re: Just got strigi installed by updates, how to start using?

I guess I wasn't specific.

The service starts and indexes everything just fine. However, if I punch a search term into Dolphin's search bar, nothing happens. It can't find a damn thing. How do I make Dolphin (or something else?) work with the search index generated by Strigi?

Just got strigi installed by updates, how to start using?

After completing the latest round of updates (KDE 4.4) I have noticed the new inclusion of strigi as a file indexing service. How do we take advantage of this new service? The search bar in dolphin still doesn't seem to do anything and I don't know enough about the service to really try it any other...

Re: How to optimize and accelerate your system

How about an explanation of what each change actually does? Simply saying "Here use these settings" is a little unnerving to me. I doubt (unless you can explain otherwise) that these settings will work for every system, with no problems what so ever.
