Re: Screen locker issue

kscreensaver doesn't have permission to process/check the password correctly. Upstream kde isssue.

Quick/dirty fix is:

Code: Select all

 chmod u+s /usr/lib64/libexec/kcheckpass
Should solve the issue if you're still stuck with it :)

Cheers,
andy

install on MBR disk [no fix....]

Hi all, I've got an HP 8300 small form factor system I'm fixing up for a friend. They'd like Sabayon installed along side the win7 that's already on the computer. I've shrunk the win7 partition to make 200Gigs of room available for Sabayon. The HP 8300 has a typically weird OEM bios that's an awful ...

Re: VirtualBox shared folders freeze under stress - [Solved]

upstream update version 5.1.12 resolves problem of shared folders (from host) freezing. Testing indicates problem resolved as noted in virtualbox release notes as well.

Re: VirtualBox shared folders freeze under stress

Joost, thanks very much for your help, always greatly appreciated!! I added more details in original message which may be of assistance. It's an upstream problem with VirtualBox, but there are workarounds as I've basically described in same message. I just had to go with an older version I had of v...

VirtualBox shared folders freeze under stress - [Solved]

Hi all, I've got a couple win7 clients under virtualbox on sabayon hosts. Seems there's an error in vbox that's re-appeared where the shared folders (from the host) disappear if you put much I/O stress on copying/moving/etc files/folders from the shares. The problem is described in the ticket below:...

Re: QHD display and dedicated nvidia graphics card

Hi popeye,

What cable type are you using to connect? HDMI won't support QHD in the <=1.4 version as I recall. I've got mine (dual displays) connected with displayport connectors and all is well.

Good luck!

Re: 16.07 installer problem

Hi DgtlRge, Anything showing up in the logs (or dmesg)? Like a repeating reset of SATA links to the hard drive(s) or other items? I had one box slow down badly when an SATA cable wasn't seated well (replaced the cable and all was good). Given vbox is also slow, I'd try the hdparm package and "ask" w...

Re: Calamares failing with KDE edition, on VirtualBox

KDE requires direct rendering, something vbox doesn't offer until guest additions are installed. Perhaps that's the source of graphical discontent? It's the reason why KDE looks like garbage over VNC, that's my direct experience with it.

Careful with that install....existing xfs partitions

Hi all, Just a heads up. On my system with multiple disks (all SSDs in my case), I ran the most recent (16.05) ISO and installer, and selected one disk and it's only partition as "keep it" (no format, etc) and mount it after install on other SSD was complete. the installer proceeded to change the ge...

Calemares -- xfs root partition no go..

Hi all, GREAT improvement over anaconda. Wow! Using the 16.05 ISO to reinstall just the OS drive. However, when manually partitioning a single disk for Sabayon, the flags won't stick on the /boot/efi mini-partition, and selecting xfs for root runs into trouble as mentioned here: https://forum.sabayo...
