Re: Has sulfur been dropped?

The BlueStar distribution has a number of versions. I installed the KDE desktop which included most of the apps I usually install. I had to add kaffeine, k3b and a few associated packages, and a few others I don't remember off the top of my head. It includes PacmanXG, which is overall not a bad gui ...

Re: Has sulfur been dropped?

In the period since my previous post I have done a bit of re-organizing, re-partitioned drives, and installed and updated both Bridge and BlueStar. In the process I deleted my Sabayon install but am currently downloading the .iso to reinstall in a new location. Both of the Arch installs are using th...

Re: Has sulfur been dropped?

My primary selections of Bridge and BlueStar was influenced by their use of the standard Arch repositories and view their relation to Arch as similar to Sabayon's relation to gentoo. I did look at the others you mention but ruled them out due to their customizations and inability to use the original...

Re: Has sulfur been dropped?

I did a large portion of my installs via equo but liked the fact that sulfur had readily available package descriptions and information and made it easy to select a group of apps to install or upgrade. When an upgrade becomes available it was nice to be able to break down the large number of package...

Re: Has sulfur been dropped?

Multi-pane display to show categories and apps they contain and descriptions, install status (if app is currently installed) without clicking on the entry, and the ability to add apps to queue for install to start. I'm sorry, but for me using rigo is like searching a clearance bin at a discount stor...

Re: Has sulfur been dropped?

:( Time to rely on entropy via commands and look for a replacement for Sabayon. Installing software via rigo is like filling a car's gas tank using a bucket and eyedropper - it can be done but there are better ways of doing it.

Has sulfur been dropped?

I see after recent updates manual removal is recommended. Has sulfur been dropped? If so I guess it's time to start searching for a replacement for Sabayon. With all due respect, I'll never understand how Rigo is viewed as an improvement over Sulfur. Rigo falls short in many ways including the fact ...

I don't like the new splash either. Too glaring and hard on the eyes. Has Sabayon reached a point where users are punished for stating they don't like something?

Re: Profile error?

Thank you svantoviit - you were correct. Running 'eselect profile set 3" with the 10.0 profiles didn't help. Running "emerge sync" followed by "eselect profile list" showed addition of v13.0 profiles and "eselect profile set 3" seems to have resolved the situation. I hadn't synced portage lately and...

Re: Profile error?

I know. I did. Won't know the outcome until the next set of updates.
