link, Are you hibernating windows on shutdown? I've seen a few cases where hibernating the system doesnt shutdown hardware properly, and a clean shutdown of windows is required first? Just a suggestion to save the pulling battery milarky

have you used the acceleration manager to select the method of desktop composition, can you also paste the content of your /etc/xorg.conf file here :)

Something to try may also be removing alsa modules from the kernel (see the wiki) but still enabling sound support, and using the 9999 alsa-driver package from portage, may already include the patch, and saves an installtion outside of portage

the recommended way to do this would have been to

Code: Select all

eselect profile list
then choosing your profile (usually 2007.0) and replacing the # with the approriate number

While in the terminal, as root type nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf This will bring an editor for the config file that controls X, look up your monitors manauls, and get horizontal syn and the verticle refresh rates, in the xorg.conf file there should be something similar to this, how to change it should be...

My deepest apologies, that must be a new development with that site, as i dont ahve any windows installs and used it a while ago quite reliably, i have reposted the patches to the site you suggested, and you can compare md5 sums with another user manually as you wish (I know i would after being sent...

hippo, if you boot, and then try to connect and paste the relevant bottom part from the command dmesg and see what the problem is
