Gmail complains that additional plugins are required

I installed Sabayon 5 two days ago and whenever I go to gmail.com it says that I need additional plugins to view all the contents even though I AM able to see all the contents. And when I click on the button which says that it will find the required plugins it comes up with no result.


Another problem :

When I run the equo update command this message comes up

I am not able to install anything from the repos

The first one is a firefox bug (or a gmail bug), you can disable the warning for missing plugins yourself.

For the second one, have a look at /etc/entropy/repositories.conf and try a different mirror (e.g. the garr mirror) and comment out the others (using the # char) Then run equo update again.

the plugin Gmail complains about is the GTalk plugin... it is NOT available for any linux as far as I know. Even if I am wrong about it, it's a firefox for linux issue, not an entropy one. Firefox basically tries to install a plugin which enables Google Talk inside your Gmail tab. Since it cannot find the plugin by itself, it generates that warning. Your gmail should run just fine without it (well, mine does, except that Gtalk thing i mentioned earlier).
If you want to use Google Talk, I would suggest pidgin (it has google talk support included, among many others).

As for the equo issue, I'm not sure what the problem is... the first thing that pops into my head is that it doesn't seem that you are running equo as root... run "su" first (it will ask for your root password), then "equo update && equo world" for a full update (if you've just installed 5.0, that will take quite a while... I would suggest making sure the update process starts, then find something else to do for a couple of hours).

Editing the /etc/entropy/repositories.conf file did not solve the issue..
And I am doing it as root, still the same message


As for the gtalk plugin, even the gtalk plugin is working fine in my browser

Aren't the repos included in the DVDs??

Yes I did.. But still nothing..

One of the problems with getting answers is your subject. It has no mention of you being unable to update Entropy. There are several threads in the Entropy Forums about updating problems and it may be worth looking at those. If you still have a problem then it may be a good idea to post a new topic (in the Entropy section) just devoted to your problem with Entropy.
