Samsung scx-4300 multifunc. printer instal problem [Solved]

Postby hatalar205 » Tue Jun 23, 2009 17:26

Hi.
I have just bought a samsung multifunctional scx-4300 printer. I donwloaded Linux drivers from its website. I installed them. After installation, I can use its scanner function without any problem but when I try to print, it does nothing. And it says it is "stopped". I can print nothing. So, I opened http://localhost:631/ and checked if it is really there. Yes, it is there, but it is stopped. So, I click start printer and enter my root password, and it says it started. But, again it couldn't write anything. And it says

"CLP-300splc (Default Printer) "Unable to start filter "rastertosamsungsplc" - No such file or directory.""

I have been trying since last night, but I coudn't find anything. I hope you can
Thanks in advance.

Everything is your fault. Yes, I advised you but you did.

Have you done some Googling for that file/directory name or error message? Looks like it's a known problem. See e.g. Samsung_SCX-4200. You could try the suggestion on the aforementioned Web page. The guy who wrote that article seems to have copied pscms*, rastertosamsungpcl*, rastertosamsungspl* and rastertosamsungsplc* from the downloaded tarball to the directory /usr/lib/cups/filter/. It's worth a try.

Thanks Fitzcarraldo. I tried that page and more than a hundred one :D but it didn't work. A tried lots of codes on terminal. I looked everywhere. So, what very funny! I installed cups everything about cups. And I opened the http://localhost:631 and add printer .... and at the end it started. It is so simple. I have never thought to be happy like now when I hear the ugly sound of the printer. :D
