After update, nothing

Postby Tertitten » Mon Jun 08, 2009 22:00

So I've installed Sabayon 4.1, and the I updated it, decided to reboot, saw the new splash screen Sabayan 4.2 after login and the nothing...
Probably this applies here viewtopic.php?f=86&t=16399 however I just want to make sure, so if someone could please guide me to if the information found in that sticky applies or not i would be greatfull.

I know this is a stupid question, however I need to make sure.

Edit; this is the gnome version

This seems to be sort of the same issue as described in this thread viewtopic.php?f=86&t=17161

Can you still go to a tty (ctrl-alt-F1)?

Try the following things first:
Code: Select all
uname -r
Should be the kernel you booted.

Code: Select all
eselect kernel list
The kernel followed by a * in the list should be the same as uname output.

Code: Select all
eselect opengl list
The * should point to the graphics card you have.

Nvidia?
Code: Select all
equo search nvidia-drivers

ATI?
Code: Select all
equo search ati-drivers
This will show you which drivers are available in the repos, and which of those are installed.

Code: Select all
equo search gnome-session
Same story as with the drivers.

Post the output here so we (ok, they ) can help you from there ;)

One more tip: when doing an equo install, equo remove or equo world, add the --ask option
(like: equo install nvidia-drivers --ask) so equo will ask your confirmation.
Handtekening? Zeg...ik ga niet op m'n monitor schrijven!
