Kernel recompilation

Postby Upgreydd » Thu Jun 04, 2009 19:45

Hi all, this is my 1st post and i'm beginner ;] Sorry for my poor english.
That's what i've done:
1. Sabayon 4.1 KDE installed
2. Sabayon updated
3. Intel 5100AGN drivers updated
4. (k)NetworkManager replaced by WiCD. (WEP start working)
5. aircrack-ng installed
What i need to do:
1. Recompile the kernel with aircrack-ng injection patches.

Can someone tell me what i suppose to do to apply this patches, and how to do this?

Thanks for all posts.

I've read this: http://wiki.sabayonlinux.org/index.php?title=HOWTO:_Upgrade_kernel_using_genkernel
and this: http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=iwlagn

But i don't know where i should use this patches on "genkernel how to".

you would need to add the patches (via epatch) to the kernel source ebuild.

Are you sure that the kernel needs to be patched?

I am using Sabayon 4.0 r1 KDE fully updated to SL4.2 on my notebook, I installed aircrack with Spritz (Sulfur) and did not know how to use until I read almost every page on aircracks wiki

Aircrack does support injection on my system and I have not applied the kernel patch,
To find out if your system supports injection you must run an injection test first as per the instructions on the aircrack wiki

The assumption is that you know the address of the aircrack wiki because you posted the address to their forum, but if you don't here is a link
http://aircrack-ng.org/doku.php

Scroll to Documentation and read all (you have no choice) the links under Aircrack-ng suite as well as the tutorial link.

If after doing all of that and you still need to patch your kernel then you will find the information on how to apply the patch as well as some info about what needs to be done on Gentoo (Note: I did not have to do any of it!) in the wiki

Hope this helps all of you trying to figure out how to use aircrack
Have lots of fun with this one
