some gnome applets didn't work after update

Postby carragu » Mon Jun 01, 2009 10:09

hi

i had installed a fresh copy of sabayon 4.1 32 bit Gnome. anything of the instructions from here are done. (including gnome update from 2.24 to 2.26.1)
but now didn't work some of the gnome applets no longer.

when i will add a applet this is showing (as example):

The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_CPUFreqApplet". Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?

i have reinstalled gnome-applets via equo and emerge but doesn't solve the problem.

any ideas?

I don't have an answer, but I came across the same problem when installing gnome-light from Sabayon 4.1 KDE a few days ago. See the thread on metapackages and desktop environments in this Beginners' Forum as some answers may get posted there too.

If the networkmanager applet isn't working, run, "equo install nm-applet". That doesn't fix the error messages though.

Most of those are gnome-power-manager applets.
They are in our Skel, and i think gnome-power-manager got removed. Try to reinstall it.

Code: Select all
equo remove gnome-power-manager
equo install gnome-power-manager

didn't solve the problem for me

btw: gnome-power-manager is only available in version 2.24.4-r2 but core gnome is 2.26.1. shouldn't the power manager in version 2.26.1 too?

Also tried:
Code: Select all
equo remove gnome-power-manager
    equo install gnome-power-manager

Didn't work for me either.

Using 64bit version, if this matters :)
