Huawei E160 mobile broadband modem

Postby mikefox7 » Sun May 31, 2009 12:29

Hello,

I recently installed Sabayon 4.1 Gnome Version and really like it (also KDE version) - but I can't get online with my Huawei E160 Modem. In Network Manager 0.7 I made the same specifications as in Network Manager 0.7 on Ubuntu, where everything works fine. But on Sabayon nothing happens. If I try it with umtsmon, ppp comes up with a lot of error messages.

Is there anybody, who can help me solve this problem? Thanks in advance!

Not sure why, but it seems everyone on this forum advises to remove networkmanager and install wicd.
Maybe you should try that? Search the forum a little bit to find out how ;)

I have not used mine in a while will plug it in and see if I can help with this.
I have posted since oct 2008 some info on the e160 / three.co.uk 3g modem that can help but there should be a easier way by now or decent software to make it work.

Network Manager wouldn't work for me so I had to use the Gentoo Scripts to make my wireless work.
