Problem with webcam on cheese [Solved]

Postby Pete333 » Tue May 19, 2009 11:33

Hi Experts,

I'm new to sabayon linux 4.1. ..I just installed it last week and it's working fine then, including cheese. But after a few updates, the webcam stop functioning in cheese but still working perfectly in skype and ekiga. ...in cheese, it just shows some colored vertical bars like a tv channel that goes off the air and a small box with rasters. ..when I tried looking at it on the terminal, it shows:

"(cheese:10274): GStreamer-WARNING **: Failed to load plugin '/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstvideo4linux2.so': libv4l2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

I then cd to '/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/' and 'libgstvideo4linux2.so' was there. ...

my webcam: Sirius USB2.0 Camera (/dev/video0)

what could be happening here? ...how can I solve it?

GStreamer Good 0.10.14 stable release was released yesterday and includes support for libv4l, upgrade to that once it becomes available and it should sort out your issue
