Help updating the world

Postby lolandrea » Wed Apr 29, 2009 4:34

hi.. so, im having a problem with the update of the world...

ihave the lastest version of tthe sabayon (4.1 GNOME) and i have installed it on a virtual machine (VirtualBox) no problems with the installation, in fact there was no warnings, no errors during the installation....

now im trying to update the world but it keeps me saying that one package is missing... look for what i have done...

1. i have updated the portage tree with
Code: Select all
# emerge --sync
# layman -S

2. then after that i try to update
Code: Select all
# emerge --update --deep --ask world

but then i have this output:

Code: Select all
Calculating dependencies... done!

!!! Problems have been detected with your world file
!!! Please run emaint --check world

!!! Ebuilds for the following packages are either all
!!! masked or don't exist:
x11-themes/murrine:0 x11-plugins/compiz-fusion-plugins-unsupported:0

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=app-admin/liboobs-2.18".
(dependency required by "app-admin/gnome-system-tools-2.18.0" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])

so, please... im still being little noob in this things XD :D ... anyone can help me here?

you should use equo instead of emerge.

http://wiki.sabayonlinux.org/index.php? ... t_to_do.3F
If you check the wiki, use the search function and google you can find the answer to most of your questions.

Remember to mark your thread [Solved] if your issue is fixed.

yes, new people should be using entropy

If you want to use portage, do a core install, edit the configs, rebuild system than build on top of that. It will much quicker and easier than trying to fix SL to a portage world update.
