I think that the configuration part is similar, following the same instructions for that part should work.
Unfortunately as far as I know the packages mentioned in that tutorial (for what I could understand...) are not in entropy.
You probably will be forced to use Emerge for them.

Be sure to follow some documentation before using emerge, the most complete source of
documentation for it is, obviously, the Gentoo wiki.

As root, update the emerge list with:
Code: Select all
emerge --sync && layman -S

install the packages mentioned in the guide with:
Code: Select all
emerge -a ueagle-atm br2684ctl

(some configuration files update could be necessary)
Sync Entropy and Portage:
Code: Select all
equo database gentoosync

the configuration part should work on Sabayon too (I think)

Does the solution I posted work?
It could be useful, if it worked for you, to indicate the steps you followed, so anyone
with your problem will know how to proceed :D

Did you try with rp-pppoe?
Code: Select all
equo install rp-pppoe

So, could you tell what did you do,I can't help you very much if I don't know what is your status.
Did you use emerge, is your modem recognised or not?
have you used rp-pppoe?

Sorry for being late answering you, but I was pretty busy these days... I apologize.

As far as I know Gentoo has not the pppoe-config script, it uses rp-pppoe, this documentation could be helpful to you:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=3

You could see also the pppoe-setup man page:
Code: Select all
man pppoe-setup

Reading the documentation I found that usually it is enough executing as root:
Code: Select all
pppoe-setup
pppoe-start
