Open a terminal a run top:
Code: Select all
top

top provides an ongoing look at processor activity in real time. It displays a listing of the most CPU-intensive tasks on the system, and can provide an interactive interface for manipulating processes.

By running top, you should be able to determine which process is actually taking up all your CPU and we can move forward from there.

To install vlc via entropy, do these as root
Code: Select all
# equo update && equo install equo
# equo install vlc

The first line will download the newest list of available packages and it will install the latest version of entropy.
The second line will actually install vlc.

Yeah if you find out what apps are taking up all your cpu you can kill them. I reccomend you read the the entropy documentation on the wiki.

You should use SMplayer as it much better than VLC and uses system ffmpeg/mplayer.

Also your location is wrong, bash is at /bin/bash. /root is the root users home folder. / is the root dir. Binaries (programs) go in "bin" or "/usr/bin"

when you run live did it work okay? Did you check MD5 sum? Try doing a world update

Code: Select all
equo update --force
equo install entropy equo spritz
equo update --force
equo world

reinstall firefox

Code: Select all
equo remove mozilla-firefox --deep --configfile
rm -rf /home/username/.mozilla/*
equo install mozilla-firefox mplayer adobe-flash

Thanks about the Sig, I have skills with Inkscape, get yourself on staff and you can have one =P

well, I'm having a hard time reading your top output formated like that. you should use code tags But, from what I can tell, looking at the top output you posted
A) you are not using 100% cpu (i see 3 instances, one at 36.1%, one at 81.2%, and one at 62.9%)
B) you have practically maxed out your RAM (only 10megs free)
C) firefox seems to be taking up the most of your cpu

so, I would close firefox and recheck your cpu load with top. If it is normal then firefox is your problem. Follow Thev00d00's advice and reinstall firefox. If that doesn't work try a world update. Keep in mind the more tabs firefox has open the more resources it is going to use.
If you check the wiki, use the search function and google you can find the answer to most of your questions.

Remember to mark your thread [Solved] if your issue is fixed.
