Can't change master volume

Postby jnadeau78 » Mon Apr 20, 2009 2:26

I just installed 4.1 Gnome, I installed the orca screenreader and there is no sound.
When I go to the alsa mixer in the terminal and try to adjust the master, it doesn't let me.
Then, I installed the GUI alsamixer and tried to adjust the master from there, but I am still unable to adjust it.
I believe if I can get the master volume up, I will be able to hear the screen reader.
Oh, also when if I play a flash video (hulu, youtube, etc...) the sound works fine.
I can also adjust the cd volume and line in...
Any help any one can give would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jonathan

See if there are any preferences under your screen reader application as to what output engine and sound server to use. You should be using "pulseaudio" with it.
