I guess I'm not understanding what you are asking

You can install this right now and than use equo to install KDE 4.2.2 that is now in entropy. You will have gnome and kde is all. Sabayon Linux 4.1 KDE will be pretty much the same but strictly KDE stuffs.

Some don't like all the stuff installed and some don't mind having multiple desktop environments.

Wolfden, that did answer my question, thanks.

Since the KDE version is still being tweaked at the moment, I thought it perhaps best to wait on installing the KDE packages into a 4.1 Gnome installation until after the official release of the KDE DVD. Seems like that may not be an issue to worry about.

What I have learned about myself is that as KDE 4 matures I am less satisfied with Gnome. Therefore it may be wise to wait to install the Sabayon 4.1 KDE release and have the complete login-to-shutdown KDE experience.

That doesn't stop me from exploring the Gnome live DVD... what a nice-looking gnome release! You guys are the best!

If anyone would like to help seed you can download the .iso files from most of the server but please not that as they update the iso's will show as complete but might not be complete yet.

Ibiblio is complete so you can download form there and then start the torrent / stop torrent then replace torrent with completed .iso you got from say ibiblio download and let the torrent recheck the md5 / hash recheck and start seeding.

This way even if anything is missing you would know you get the whole .iso and you help others get it faster.

Also it saves on loads of our main servers while they sync over the next 2 days.

32 Bit:
ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/sabayonlinux/Sabayon_Linux_4.1_x86_G.iso

64 Bit:
ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/sabayonlinux/Sabayon_Linux_4.1_amd64_G.iso

PS> if you are in a hurry to test drive it then give it a go in Virtualbox / Vmware while you continue seeding.

I am on 4.1 via equo world and am on 2.6.29 as well. The only problem I've had I believe will be taken care of by the new config file. I'm looking at the diff file now, and it's significant!

I am extremely impressed with what you've done over the years. You've gone in directions I've never imagined were possible!

Thanks for all of your efforts!

in some ways our GNOME version reminds me of ultimate version of ubuntu.
this one of course is better because the codecs are already installed
Thanks Fabio!!!

It shouldn't be a problem at all. Just upgrade and eselect your kernel and drivers.

http://wiki.sabayonlinux.org/index.php?title=HOWTO:_Upgrade_kernel_using_Entropy

Then do a world update, with the cautions provided by wolfden here:

http://forum.sabayonlinux.org/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=16399

I did that and it was working fine.

is it possible to upgrade current 4 to this 4.1?
I have gentoo 2008.0 migrated to sabayon 4 via equo
but under http://svn.sabayonlinux.org/entropy/sta ... abase/x86/
there isn't 4.1 why?

Remember that the 4 branch is rolling so a fully updated 4.0 would contain all the 4.1 packages
