equo and install older version of program

Postby copin123 » Tue Apr 14, 2009 5:30

I am running sabayon 4.1, and will be using it as a mythtv frontend. I currently have a backend running mythtv version 0.21

for my frontend to work correctly I need to have the frontend and the backend to match. when I used spritz to install mythtv, the only version avaliable is mythtv is 0.22.

how can I install the older version of mythtv on my frontend using equo or spritz?

upgrading the backend is not an option because it is working and I do NOT want to break it again!

I was not able to find another version of mythtv on Entropy, however you should
give to equo the complete version in order to install an older one.
For example if you want a specific version of the kernel you should do:
Code: Select all
equo install --ask =linux-sabayon-2.6.28

for a specific version of the JRE:
Code: Select all
equo install --ask =jre-1.5.0

notice the equals ( = ) before the package.

If you are unable to find that version of MythTV, try to install it from portage, you will find
it there for sure.
Before using Portage read some instructions for it, you will find plenty of it in the Sabayon Wiki or
in the Gentoo Wiki itself.
Before using it be sure to update the package list with:
Code: Select all
emerge --sync && layman -S

and after using Portage let Entropy know what you changed with:
Code: Select all
equo database gentoosync
