Sauerbraten: fine on live CD, unplayable (slow)after install

Postby Lucidan » Fri Mar 06, 2009 10:24

Sauerbraten worked fine on the (SL4 r1) live CD, but after install it is very very very slow (1 fps). Even moving the mouse pointer in the main menu takes ages. Some facts:

- My laptop: dual core pentium, 4GB, Intel X3100 (aka GMA 965), screen res. 1366x768.
- Compiz (3d desktop cube, window effects) is working fine.

Any ideas?

I heard of this problem before. Its some sort of imcompatibility of the video drivers with the kernel version (I guess you have 2.6.27). You should use the new 2.6.28 Kernel with the apropriate video drivers. Good Luck

Well, actually Wolfden's surprisingly simple suggestion worked: I simply turned off Compiz...now Sauerbraten works.

Strange thing that on the live CD, it worked with Compiz turned on. But I can live with that.
