Erm, did anyone try the downgrade from 4.2.? Would KDE 4.2. work with the older networkmanager? Because if I manage to screw both KDEs, that would be very not-good.

Unfortunately, it does't work. :(
The KDE 4.2. won't allow me to right click on the knetworkmanager when i start it from console. KDE 3.5' starts knetworkmanager and even discovers correctly all the networks. However when I try to connect it says "Connection Failure Could not connect to the network using device eth0". And if I try to connect to the wireless, it simply try for a while and then stops. Now is a good time for help, because I'm without working net and this is very bad.

Update: I decided to roll back to the 7.0. version, because it was the only working one. Wired network is better than no network at all :P

As an alternative you might consider wicd.

I ask you to test this and report your findings.

some versions of networkmanager seems to not work in some system.
also you may remove knetworkmanager and networkmanager and using wicd as substutute.
if you have dynamic IP, you may try the classical dhclient command.

can't see network or print after equo update

Postby sparkable » Thu Feb 05, 2009 20:53

OK, I am new to linux and still learning my way aroung sabayon. However, I did an equo update the other day and now I cannot access any samba shares, it just gives me a timeout on server error and I can no longer print to a windows networked printer. Everything was working fine before update. Any guidance would be appreciated?

the network problem is probably the upgrade to networkmanager 0.7.0.0, if you downgrade to 0.6.6-r1 it hopefully works
Code: Select all
emerge --sync && layman -S

then
Code: Select all
emerge =net-misc/networkmanager-0.6.6-r1
