net-misc/networkmanager-0.6.6-r1

looks like the other version was removed for some odd reason

Code: Select all
emerge --sync && layman -S

Code: Select all
emerge =net-misc/networkmanager-0.6.6-r1

than you'll have to mask it in entropy so entropy doesn't upgrade it

course you will need working internet tho... :|
can use the livecd and chroot in

Just an update: the downgrade brought my wireless back up however I cannot seem to connect with my WPA2 encryption :| I had to drop to unsecured wireless for it to connect.

Thanks wolden, I hope the next upgrade to networkmanager will fix it

Sabayon4 - KDE 3.5.10 knetworkmanager odd behavior

Postby tekwyzrd » Tue Feb 03, 2009 1:19

A short time ago I ran equo update, installed the new version of entropy, equo, spritz, and notifier applet. I then installed the updates that I found and merged the config changes. After rebooting and logging in knetworkmanager indicates no network device found. I rebooted, restarted knetwork, ran net-setup with no problems but knetworkmanager still indicates no network device found. Why is it odd? I'm posting this message using the computer knetworkmanager can't find the network device for.

there has been several posts on people having problem with latest updates and NetworkManager 0.7.0 - the fix is to downgrade it, but it's no longer in entropy so you have to emerge it

Kde4.2 Knetworkmanager Not Working after Updating

Postby carotapacioccia » Tue Feb 03, 2009 10:59

Hi everybody, I can't get info about Knetworkmanager...

Someone knows when a functional knetworkmanager will be released for 4.2?

I used to start knetworkmanager from 3.5 path and it worked fine but as I try now it doesn't see my wlan0 card...

If I try from shell a Iwconfig wlan0 is active,

also iwlist scan gets lot of signals...
also it get the right essid if i ask for it...

but the applet says that there are no ap...and I don't have a card ? O.o
also via cable it doesn't work...

any Idea on how to use wireless again ?

p.s. I'm in university and need to login in server to be able to navigate...
