Put the downloaded package files in the entropy cache dir, then equo install as normal

where should I install the files?
I tried doing an equo update on a working installation and got the following
rik@apollo ~ $ equo update
>> @@ Repositories synchronization ...
>> [svn.sabayonlinux.org:1026] Successfully connected to host
>> [svn.sabayonlinux.org:1026] Successfully disconnected from host
>> # (1/1) Sabayon Linux Official Repository
>> # Database URL: http://svn.sabayonlinux.org/entropy/sta ... /amd64/3.5
>> # Database local path: /var/lib/entropy/client/database/amd64/sabayonlinux.org/standard/amd64/3.5
>> # Database EAPI: 3
>> Attention: database is already up to date.
>> !!! Equo/Entropy: a new release is available. Mind to install it before any other package.
>> @@ Notice board: sabayonlinux.org
>> @@ Notice board not available

I then assumed that the /var/lib/entropy/client/database/amd64/sabayonlinux.org/standard/amd64/3.5 path was where I should put the files. So replicated the dir on the newly installed system (replacing amd64 with x86)

I did that but equo didn't find them..
Is there another step I need to do?

Unfortunately I need this to get networking (wired or wireless) working :(

the dir is:
Code: Select all
 /var/lib/entropy/packages/amd64/3.5/

If you are installing on an amd64 system you need to download the amd64 packages!

If you look at spritz's main menu you will see that it has an "install downloaded package" option, maybe try that

i tried also in spritz..
download the adequate package, from sabayon packages, or from the zenana repo.
save the package for example in your /home/user/mypackages dir..
open spritz as root,
the first menu, in the left, and click on " install from binary", an window with a dialog, will appear, to navigate and open your downloaded file
is so easy.
if the dependencies are present, this will install the package...

should have explained - the other system is amd64, this is x86

That does it - hadn't tried the GUI. Does equo have similar capability?

dependencies are my next problem
have hijacked this enough now and will open a thread on the new issue...
