etc-update necessary with Spritz?

Just finished updating all the installed packages on my recently installed Sabayon distro and was wondering if I stick to Entropy/Spritz (binary packages) whether its necessary to manage the various config files using etc-update. As a test I ran etc-update which indicated 199 files required updating! Needless to say I did not proceed.

Config files must be update after using Spiritz.
Use

equo conf update

to update config files
