Ok, it is a fresh installation but with 34F environment backup and restore...
Anyway the installation was from scratch.
The Sabayon 3.5 x86_64 live DVD loaded perfectly with sound and 3D!
Moving on to installation, I'm really surprised how installation was easy and painless!
Now, thanks to Enropy I guess, there are some more options on packages to intall or leave!
It looks more like Mandriva but Iknow Sabayon offers lot more in terms of personalization and integration with non open packages...
Installation took less than half an hour.
After installation I saw the Entropy update check icon (on the upper panel) asking me to upgrade some 274 packages.
I did it.
Unfortunately this time the process was lot slower: about 4.5 hours to complete, Spritz was continuously switching between normal and greyed (like when an application hangs).
The update, even if very slow (i have an 6Mbps ADSL connection which is usually running at more than 4), completed successfully.
Some small problems arised at the end of the upgrade process:
- At the end of the upgrade, Spritz (when it says it does'nt have anythng to do) stayed grey and I had to kill it.
- Trying to install some more packegas, thus running Spritz again it was complaining for an anothe istance running, I killed 2 Entropy processes, and I ran Spritz again, I installed the desired packages but at the end Spritz was grey again.
- I rebooted the PC and while closing Kde session Kmix hanged with Sigterm (I'm not sure).
- After the reboot everything was working fine, but the Entropy update check icon (on the upper panel) was not any more there, and Spritz hangs 100% times just after finished installyng any packages, if I have to install more I need to kill the 2 Entropy processes in order to start Spritz.
The restopre process (of my 3.4F environment) is going on slowly, step by step, I'm restoring my DOT files and folders nad all the rest, checking for compatibility and changed things before proceeding at each step...
Any idea on how to have Spritz non to hang at the end of each installation and how to get back the Entropy update check icon on the upper panel?
Many thanks.
Mauro
