I actually just got an AMD Turionx2 HP Notebook and it ROCKS! Lots of things didnt work on it in Linux out of the box but no biggy, about 20 hours of digging and I got it all up now. The fun part was removing all traces of Vista!

I will put some salt in my wounds

Postby munichmachine » Sun Jul 29, 2007 21:00

Innotek Virtualbox does not boot from CD/DVD or images no matter what I do, and I tried to find a solution to that, no luck.

When pressing F12 it won't bother to look anywhere, just informing me about no boot device found. And I put CD/DVD first in boot order removing floppy (no floppy here:))

So then I thought that it was a permission problem as I was a superuser, and root where the group on .VirtualBox. Changed that after shutting down the virtual machine and restarted, no change !

VMware is expensive but I bought that after it worked at once. Innotek is history and I will not bother to go there again after many hours trying.

indeed, same feeling ... vmware is simply working ... when virtualbox spark my attention, i try to learn more, and what i find ... no usb support !? in a modern emulation of a real machine!? oh no! this was a showstopper for me ... and after more googling i learn that it is a usb suport but not for me poor mortals, but only to real men with real money in they pockets. Hmmm ... this smell like a marketing trick ... i will skip it ...
