This just in- Guild Wars works fantastically in Wine 0.9.61!

Under older versions of Wine, certain people had a lot of problems in enabling DX9 for the game in the Wine environment. While this situation was slowly being rectified, it seems to have completely disappeared with the new release. With DX9 enebaled, there are the typical artifacting errors, but there are not too extreme. Also, it seems Wine has been patched, so the parsing of the game cache when entering a new area is now much, much faster than before. (That means no standing around for five minutes for the game to speed up to be playable.) While you can definitely sense that there is still loading going on in the background, with a slight speed decrease until the cache has been spooled, it is nowhere near as bad as before.

Great job, Wine devs!

Have a look at "wine-doors" and install direct-X 9c directly from inside it or winamp etc.

Might work better , in 3.4f and later on not sure about mini + wine-doors should work once installed.

even though this is a really old post, i thought i'd comment. all you have to do is right click the gw shortcut, go to proporties, and delete the "-mce" from the end of the shortcut destination
