Win games under Wine

Postby Karnizero » Sat Dec 01, 2007 3:01

I will post here a list of games that i tryed and run correctly under Sabayon's Wine, without any special configuration and/or dll windows library installation:

ZDoom
GzDoom
Hexen 2 (without source ports, just original game executable: hexen.exe or glhexen.exe)
Quake 2 Evolved (better frame rate that window$ runs)
Quake 3 (I know there is native binaries, but juts testing)
Half Life 1
Quake Tenebrae (Quake 1. Runs much better that window$ runs)
FuhQuake (Quake 1)
Mu Online
World of Warcraft
Diablo 1 (Not tested over www)
Diablo 2 (and Diablo 2 Expansion. Not tested over www)
ZDaemon (not tested over www games, only LAN. Runs with a capped framerate. Maybe a config. issue. I dont know)
Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (Approx same FrameRate as window$ runs. Maybe 5 or 6 FPSs less, no less)
F.E.A.R. (needs some dll's hacks, or you will get errors)
Need for Speed Underground 1
Need for Speed Underground 2
Microsoft Arcade Games (Atari classic remakes from MSoft)
Starcraft
Warcraft 1, 2 and 3
Counter Strike Source (you will need a very potent computer. Runs at really lower framerate, in comparison with Window$)
Nox (Diablo Like game. Not tested over www.)
...

I think i miss some, but i dont remember now.

Any doubt, just let me to know :-)

If someone is interested in Doom Linux Source Ports, editing tools, and map/MODs editing, i can help a bit with that.

Salutes and cya.

Guildwars 2.8+ runs almost flawlessly on wine with emulated sound and fullscreen disabled

What dll hacks did you use? I'm interested in playing F.E.A.R. since I have a copy laying around somewhere.

Also:
Europa Universalis II
Fallout 1 and 2
Suddenstrike 1 (Suddenstrike 2 not yet tested)
Warcraft 3 and Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne

Works great with the newest Wine. On Wine 0.9.48 i successfully ran Freedom Fighters and graphics was very good (but I didn't tested FF with opengl flag so it works a bit slow without that flag). Now I'm trying to run Lineage II Interlude, yet without positive result.

I have gathered that to emulate DirectX you emulate DirectX with OpenGL?

It would screw me up with playing games as I have an integrated GPU, and it doesn't really support OpenGL.

:D sweet man.... I've heard cedega is even better than wine and I guy I work with got the source code for free and compiled his own pirate copy. He's one genius motha... way smarter than me. Does anyone know if you get to play Starcraft or warcraft online too? At least in a LAN.

admin edit: Cedega is NOT Wine and we don't encourage pirated software in here.

Games that do not work

Postby prank » Thu Mar 27, 2008 10:53

Gothic 3
and Unreal Tournament didn't work.
wine 0.9.58
Warcraft works very well.
If you have hints how to get G3 and UT3 working, let me know.
I even tried the patches for G3 but they didn't work wit 0.9.58 .
