warsow and intel GMA?

Has anyone succeded in playing warsow with an intel GMA? If yes I would really like some feedback because when I try to, it always crashes!

Could be the driver or the video card is too weak / game video settings is too high.

Could be anything else if not this above.

Actually, it is not a hardware matter(probly) because the game runs just fine in Vista in the same computer(!!!). So, anymore ideas?

Likely driver / compiz fusion / acceleration manager.
First try to run glxgears as is in root konsole / terminal and note the fps you get.
Next kill acceleration manager and try again after boot or ctrl+alt+backspace to kill X windows.
It should be higher .
If all this fails try to reinstall the driver should be i810resolution / i915 or something sounding similar too this.

Someone else posted about something similar also on the Intel GMA cards possibly under 3d desktop part of the forums. Search top right of the page or the wiki should list something to fix this as well.

How do I kill acceleration manager? Does it start on boot?

2 Way's depending on SL version you have:
1 using cheat codes and something like " noacceleration "
Another while inside say kde /gnome and the start button left bottom of screen then likely under settings or system there should be a acceleration manager option you can click.

Same with compiz fusion or right click compiz top right of screen next to time and disable it.
Just search the forums for either one likely in 3d desktop part of the forums for more / correct info.

I just pop in a live SL cd /dvd and when asked either yes or no for glx obviously once with and once without and in both cases run glxgears and not the difference.

You just have to play around with this until you get a fix ot search the forums for ati + compiz type fixes if this is causing the problem.

I did what you said and glxgears gives me an average of 10000-15000 frames per second. But still nothing happens to warsow. Also when it crashes ctrl+alt+backspace doesn't work so I assume that X crashes too.

Only thing I can think is the 915resolution or i810 drivers has somehow become funky and trying to reinstall them should work similar to below example.

Alternatively there might be something with the game and resintalling the game could fix a dependancy that might be messed up.

Fix any busted dependancy's:
# revdep-rebuild -X

Fix the game if anypart is busted in it's install:
# emerge -p warsaw
# emerge warsaw
using correct names with above.
Note I did not add the -u for update only fresh install like above , it makes a difference.

More than this try the irc / webchat someone there would be able to give a correct / faster fix.

Is it a possible problem of the intel GMA driver? And also, is there a portage entry for intel drivers?
