ET plays great in 3.5 on my machine, but I have never been able to get sound no matter what the distro. Must be something with the Nvidia chip set on my HP a6009n. My kids Del Optiplex with the intel chipset plays great infact my middle son won't play anything else. Any ideas on getting sound to work ET plays better native Linux than a wine shell of the Windblows version.

this is something that worked for me------------------------

For Enemy Territory True Combat Elite sound to work
I did this
http://nullkey.ath.cx/~stuff/et-sdl-sound/

then I just copied it to my desktop and play as a mod to ET

or

To get sound I must run as root:

Code: Select all
echo "et.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss

I just look for low ping and few folks, just for a round or two of destruction.......I really haven't even looked at any of the server titles yet, I'm just so glad when the resources finally download :cyclops:

Doesn't seem to work well at ALL with 3.5 L2 R1 64-bit. There is a bug in the cursor movement (which I've been told is xorg), and it supposedly can be fixed by running audacious or kaffiene at the same time as the game, but it really just speeds up your mouse, either making it slightly less noticeable, or if you fractionally move your cursor in-game you spin in circles, both directions. The sound issue is there as well (not sure wtf you mean by enabling that in the kernel- do I really gotta rebuild it over a single flag?) and downloading that script from null doesn't seem to do anything. Past those issues, if you can actually get the PB updated and get to the server: You get kicked for punk buster saying your client isn't proper.

Also, is there a way to reset your resolution configuration after you've installed and created the default profile? I keep getting this wonderful 'Input Not Supported!' flashing across my lcd whenever I start my game now.

edit: also equo wouldn't install it in either 3.5 loops, it'll sit in the console and hang up for a couple days if you let it. Portato can't handle the user agreement, Spritz just masks it right off the bat (not sure if this is system specific or just a fluke on both my computers).
