compiled packages save

Postby Keks » Thu Sep 07, 2006 18:11

Hi out there, I'm a Gentoo Noob so I am sorry for the question, in Suse for example you can save the downloaded RPM's but how can I safe the Gentoo the "whatever" files, the compiled binaries??? :?: Has anybody got an idea, this would pretty helpful when you're at a LAN Party and no internet for emerge is available. Thx in advance

share /usr/portage/distfiles over the network and/or do emerge -f <package name> to only fetch the required sources.
To prepare a precompiled version you can use quickpkg, if the package is already installed or emerge -B to build the binary package from sources.
