I use http://linuxreviews.org/gentoo/emerge/ for a great list of emerge commands - might help with your emerge page -- looking good

hmmm...try to not repeat yourself. Also, I suggest going into more detail about how to use the other emerge commands that a lot of people don't know :P

i was planning on covering emerge extensively in its own wiki page...from the simple stuff like emerge -p to emerge --oneshot --nodeps .......i was really thinking of this guide as a newbie's intro to using portage, just the basics to get 'em going

i will have to read over it a few times and try to correct the areas i've repaeted myself (bad habit :P )

I also plan on putting in a little something about the distfiles directory and the fact it needcs to cleaned out every once-in-a-while....I remember when i started using gentoo and freakijng out 6 mo. later because i was outta disk space  and i'd like to make sure nobody else has to deal with that little experience

aside from that, anything else?

actually, the thing about cleaning out your file system is beautiful! write that soon so I don't forget again............I forget to do that all the time........

I'm going to be writing a sort of mini SL releasenotes/howto all in one pdf soonly, so I'd like to be able to reference our wiki as a suppliment to gentoo-wiki :salut:

I like to see a quick and dirty transition guide from Gentoo... like what layman does, and how to re-compile the whole thing, etc...

It would be better if the wiki doesn't pops up in its own window... I like to keep things in tabs...

Anyway, does the wiki work yet? I tried to click on the links but they don't do anything?

That's 'cod they're not links.
That's 'cos I put them together and konqi3.3 doesn't work it properly. Hopefully be going over to RC2 shortly so should be repairable.

I just thought of the perfect resource to figure out how to edit a wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki#Pages_and_editing

more importantly:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikitext

I'll take a look at it myself after school and see if I can get to prettifying our wiki. :)
