Code: Select all
adam@sabayonx86-64 ~ $ locate
bash: locate: command not found
adam@sabayonx86-64 ~ $

wtf...you're using SL right? hmm...you can try emerging slocate and rlocate and locateopen to see if one of those packages will reinstall it properly for you....that's very odd

Yes, I am using SL! So, our favorite Linux knows its users :D and installs selective commands!
I will try to emerge and let you know...

On that subject: I first tried to emerge rlocate (because there's no need to run updatedb) but it failed to compile, saying it didn't detect the kernel version. My questions are these:
1.) Do I need to recompile the kernel to get this to work, or just run menuconfig?
2.) If I recompile the kernel using /scripts/emerge-kernel, will it take care of my Nvidia drivers?

I think you're using SL mini, if so the error it gives you it's due to the lack of the kernel, so emerge the kernel with the script you just mentioned and it should work, nothing else needed
