X.Org lockup using agp/nvidia

Postby iotc247 » Thu Nov 10, 2005 21:26

I compiled my kernel (Archck) based off of the config used in your live cd. What I did was remove anything I didn't need. The problem though is that when I have the kernel with my configuration, have xorg.conf using nvidia (driver) and run startx the whole computer locks up. I was wondering if you might be able to tell me why this is since you seem to have it working. Is it possibly the fact that I didn't do the nvidia opengl or whatever?

Oh and off the topic could you tell me where you got the whole alt+f1, f2 (shutdown, and poweron), and the console - boot splashes and how to do it? Thank you alot. (I would use your distrobution but it has tooo much installed that I do not want. I like knowing exactly what I have. But it does make an excellent live dvd.)

If you are using the X86_64 version then this is a known issues(s) with the nvidia driver and the linux kernel.

Patching instructions are available at this location:
