sound?

Postby g35x » Sun Nov 18, 2007 9:03

the bootup sounds in sabayon plays but once I get in there are no other sounds, in video files, audio files, or youtube videos

I posted this in the software fourm because since it plays startup sounds it can't be a hardware issue, but if its in the wrong spot by all means move it.
my sound card is the onboard audio on my asrock dual sataII

edit: actually the boot up sounds don't play now that I have it installed.
they worked in the liveCD though.

run alsaconf , as root, then run alsamixer or kmix (whatever you prefer) and raise your levels and check nothing is muted

BTW : what version of Sabayon?

Look at this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=57&t=11446

As I said there:

tekwyzrd wrote:I had the same happen after installing Sabayon 3.4f. No login sound or event notifications. Sound was fine when playing media files. The sound files are missing in /usr/share/apps/kthememanager/themes/Sabayon Linux/sounds/

emerge =x11-themes/sabayonlinux-artwork-3.40-r5

This last 3.4 package contains the missing files.
