just wait till you get comfortable with portage! you'll love Sabayon even more! I think one of the best aspects of Sabayon is it's easy enough to install for someone that's new to linux, but unlike a lot of other distros, it's functionality will continue to grow with your skill level...so later on, if you want to manually write a bunch of your config files, compile your kernel and apply a bunch of patches to it, set custom cflags, tweak your video card performance in xorg.conf, setup a unique partitioning shceme, etc. ...you can, and Sabayon being Gentoo based won't protest in the least ( as long as you do it all correctly )
