"Create new folder" is missing in Konqueror [Solved]

Postby Lucidor » Sat Oct 27, 2007 20:42

Phew, I have just completed an upgrade bonanza! I installed KDE 3.5.8, Python 2.5, Xorg 7.3 and Compiz Fusion development version. It took me close to 48 hours to get it right, much with the help from various excellent walkthroughs in this forum.

The only (?) thing that puzzles me is that some menu items seem missing in Konqueror: If I right click in a folder view I don't see the option to create a new folder or a new text document like before. The only thing I can do is to create a link, and the submenu to that option looks very strange.

Any ideas? If you did similar upgrades, please tell if your menus are the same or if they are working just fine. Could it be a KDE bug?

Same problem here...

Hopefully I can (or someone else) figure this out soon!

I've got the same problem. It's the same problem as reported in the following thread:

OK, found the solution. See my last post in the above-mentioned thread. (Grazie, Lomion.)

That worked like a charm! I did "emerge kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves" and after a few minutes everything was back to normal.

Now all I need to do to achieve perfection is to sample a Compiz-Fusion development release where everything works at the same time. So far, there have been "glitches"...

Anyway, I really appreciate the help, thank you!
